Burabay
Burabay is a resort area in northern Kazakhstan, often called the “Kazakh Switzerland”: pine forests, granite rocks and fourteen lakes are scattered between mountain ranges within the national park. Until 2005, the resort village was called Borovoe, while today this name refers only to the central lake.
Unlike Balkhash, Burabay is a year-round destination: in summer - beaches, boating and mountain hiking; in winter - ski slopes, ice rinks and snowmobiles. It is the only destination on your trip where you do not need to wait for a specific month.
The lakes differ from one another more than it may seem at first glance: some have fresh water and busy beaches, some have salt water with no fish, some areas officially allow fishing, while others do not.
