Why Choose Pervaya Vodokolonka?
Pervaya Vodokolonka is one of the rapidly developing areas along the Lake Balkhash coast. It takes 15–20 minutes to get here from the city, roughly the same as to Barkovskoye. The shore is pebbly, with a gentle entry into the water. The destination is popular, but it has a feature that most neighboring areas lack: swimming pools are available at most recreation bases. Since visitors are spread between the beach and the pools, the area feels less crowded than sandy destinations even during peak season. Another advantage is the variety of accommodation options. There are large recreation areas with full infrastructure as well as private houses for rent. Prices vary widely, with options ranging from budget-friendly to comfortable. The swimming season lasts from June to September.

What to consider
🪨Pebbly shore, not sandy
The entry is gentle, but the bottom consists of pebbles and rocks rather than sand. Water shoes are recommended for both adults and children. For sandy beaches, consider Torangalyk or Chubar-Tyubek.
🏊Not every property has a pool
Pools are available at large recreation areas but not every private house has one. If a pool is important to you, check before booking, as it can also affect the price.
👥Popular destination
The area is busy during the season, but pools help distribute visitors and prevent large crowds. Parking can still be limited on weekends.
📅Book in advance
The destination is developing and demand is growing. In July and August, it is best to book 1–2 weeks in advance.
💨Stronger winds in the afternoon
Winds and waves often pick up in the afternoon on Lake Balkhash. It is more comfortable to swim in the lake in the morning or use the pool instead.
🦟Mosquitoes near reed beds
Mosquitoes are active in the evening near reed-covered areas of the shore. Insect repellent is recommended.
