Why Choose Torangalyk?
Torangalyk is the most popular beach on the northern shore of Lake Balkhash. According to surveys, around one-third of visitors to the lake choose this destination. Until 2023, it was a village in Aktogay District, after which it became part of the city of Balkhash to support the development of the tourist area. Its main appeal is the white sandy beach and gentle entry into the water. There are few such areas on Balkhash, making Torangalyk one of the lake's best beaches. Most photos featured in tourist guides are taken here. The destination is suitable for everyone: families with children, groups of friends, and fishing enthusiasts. The downside is that it is consistently crowded during peak season. The swimming season begins in June and peaks in July and August. Water temperatures reach +24…27 °C.

What to consider
👥Very crowded in season
Torangalyk is one of the busiest destinations on Balkhash. In July and August, especially on weekends, beaches and parking areas are crowded. For a quieter experience, visit in June, September or on weekdays, or choose a less popular shoreline.
💰More expensive than nearby destinations
Due to high demand and the sandy beach, accommodation here is more expensive than in Barkovskoye and other pebbly coastal areas.
📅Book in advance
Availability is limited during peak season. It is best to book 2–3 weeks in advance, or even earlier for long weekends.
🚗Traffic and parking
On peak days, queues form at the entrances, and parking spaces near popular areas fill up quickly. It is better to arrive in the morning.
💨Wind in the afternoon
Winds and waves often pick up in the afternoon on Balkhash. It is more comfortable to swim in the first half of the day. Swimming in waves can be more exciting but also more dangerous, so exercise caution.
🦟Mosquitoes near reed beds
Mosquitoes are active in the evening near reed-covered areas of the shore. Insect repellent is recommended.
